Caroline’s House
Caroline’s House is a beautifully appointed, detached property which is full of light and furnished in a New England style. The house lies in an acre of private grounds and is an ideal venue for entertaining friends. During the summer months this is a perfect choice for a combined family holiday. Children will love playing in the outdoor pool or in the specially constructed play area in the large garden and a path leads directly on to an unspoilt sand and pebble beach a few yards away from the front door.
The House is situated on a quiet, residential, private estate in Kingston Gorse which lies between Littlehampton and Worthing on the West Sussex coast, 15 miles from Brighton. It has an outdoor pool (gated and with security cover), changing room with shower and wc, terrace, lawns and a barbecue area with alfresco dining for up to 24 guests. The pool is heated and available to use between 1st May and 30th September
The History
The house was built in the 1930's. By this time Kingston Gorse had become a popular weekend haunt of thespians and celebrities from the West End stage. At the beginning of the Second World War, the village enjoyed a thriving social scene. Party guests included members of the Crazy Gang, Meno Nervo and Teddy Knox, Clarice Mayne, Horace Reeves, the band leader Jack Hylton, the impresario George Black and the pianist Dame Myra Hess. More recently in the 1960’s Caroline’s House entertained actors Roger Moore and Barbara Windsor. It is rumoured that Richard Gere owns a house in Kingston Gorse but has yet to be seen!
The House was acquired 5 years ago by the current owner . During this time it has been updated and transformed into a luxuriously designed family home.
