Villa Kargi
Villa Kargi is on the south side of the Datca Peninsula and, from its terrace, you can see the Greek island of Symi. The peninsula is one of the least developed parts of south-west Turkey and has a famously good climate with very low humidity and an average of over three hundred sunny days per year. In mid-summer, the Aegean meltemi provides a lovely cooling breeze. The house is surrounded by spectacular scenery and there is good hiking in the hills behind the villa. A walk of less than half an hour south from the villa takes you to lovely small bays where the swimming and snorkelling is superb and the nearby town of Datca offers a choice of water sports including windsurfing, sailing and scuba diving. The very pretty small harbour has lots of restaurants, bars and surprisingly good shopping (particularly if you like oriental textiles, carpets, ceramics, jewellery, etc.) Datca has virtually no foreign tourism which gives it an authentically Turkish ambience and is a great place to spend the evening.
Villa Kargi is set in 3 acres of beautiful ancient olive groves and landscaped grounds, backed by towering pine and olive clad mountains dropping down to the sparkling sea. There are lovely views both behind the villa towards the mountains and from the front towards the sea. Peaceful and tranquil, surrounded by nature, it is a short 350 metre walk down to the sea and three small lokanta where you can enjoy a drink or a meal.
There are three very friendly, professional staff who will do your shopping, cooking and your laundry and in every way do their best to give you a really relaxing holiday.
The house was built four years ago by an English couple with young children. The result is a house which is stylish while also being child-friendly and practical. The heart of the house is a very large double height living room, furnished with beautiful Turkish textiles and an eclectic collection of both English and Turkish antiques. A huge terrace runs the length of the house and has a covered dining area. All the rooms have fans and air conditioning.
The magnificent 13x6m heated pool has a large pool house with a changing room, a WC and a lovely cushioned shady area for reading. There is a red clay tennis court which is rolled daily.
