Originally built in the 18th century for the Caliph of Zanzibar, Kisimani has been carefully restored, extended and beautifully furnished in Swahili style. The atmosphere is redolent of the Arabian Nights with cool spacious interiors providing a delicious contrast to the hot, bright outdoors. There are no cars on Lamu Island so life moves at the pace of dhows and donkeys and to the tune of the mosques.
Additional single beds, a large outside living/dining area and numerous private verandas at each level complement the 4 en suite bedrooms. The two top levels have spectacular views of the ocean, the archipelago and of life in Shela.
One of the outstanding features of this house is its staff, Karissa the cook and Fred the house steward, who both speak English and will ensure your stay is memorable. The house is a minute’s walk from endless white beaches and crystal clear water.
