La Royannaise

n amazing 1920’s estate, set on four and half acres of private land, that has been  lovingly restored and is perched on the cliffs above the beautiful Gironde estuary. Situated just outside  the traditional family resort of Royan, with its huge Atlantic beaches, backed by pine forests, this area is wonderful for families with boating, biking, surfing and great food.. The vineyards of the Medoc are just across the estuary and the ancient cities of of Bordeaux and La Rochelle, only a short drive away.

The estate has a private tunnel down to the large sandy beach below, wonderful for children, and with the added bonus a good restaurant at one end. A set of sea kayaks are stored in the tunnel.

An infinity pool looks over the sea and has a marvellous terrace with a huge table allows for outdoor lunches and dinners with the whole group..Several large seating areas eating area look out towards the ocean and have lots of sofas and chairs, ideal for watching the sunset over the Phare de Courdouan..

The two houses are set side by side. The main house can sleep 6 or 8 and the guest house a further 10 or 12 (depending on the staff room), including the three trundle beds in the pretty children’s dormitory. Both have been completely renovated and have new bathrooms. Both houses have kitchens and indoor and outdoor dining, ideal for casual breakfasts in smaller groups or children’s suppers.

We love La Royannaise; seaside holidays as they used to be with something for all ages.
