South of France | St Tropez | South West | Countryside | City | Corsica

South of France
We love the South of France, great fun for all the family. Delicious food, a myraid of restaurants, from good value bistros to Michelin stars. Loads of sports and a wealth of cultural activities.

The coast from Monaco is gorgeous and glamorous; Cap Ferrat remains one of the most expensive places to rent. Beaulieu a hidden jewel. Villefranche perfectly situated with fabulous views and easy access to Monaco and Nice. St Paul de Vence, a step away from the crowds but near enough to pop down to the coast for a dip.. Nice, wonderful and belle epoque. Cannes, glitzy and gorgeous.

Despite everything you hear about traffic, expense and crowds, the South of France remains our most asked for destination and for good reason. Its fabulous!

South West
A French ‘best kept secret’. Wonderful for families, loads to do and miles of Atlantic beaches. Don’t come here for glam and Riviera style beach clubs, this coast is all about discrete chic, great food, bikes, boats and surfing. Easy access by scheduled and low cost flights via La Rochelle and Bordeaux.

Countryside
For Francophiles and those looking for peace and quiet. The French countryside varies hugely from North to South but the charm of the villages remains constant. These are great houses for family parties; think morning outings to the local market, a coffee on the village square and long lazy afternoons on shady terraces.

The majority of the houses are family homes, much loved, spacious, comfortable and individual with all their charms and quirks, few have air conditioning and high tech equipment but they are wonderfully atmospheric and a taste of the real France.

Corsica
Corsica is all about the sea (perhaps the best in the Mediterranean) and day trips to tiny coves with delicious beach restaurants only accessible from the water. So take a house with a boat, stock up on the sun cream and book your beach table in advance. Corsica is laid back living, service can be limited and the island is predominantly French speaking, however it remains unspoilt, wild and very beautiful. Connections are improving with a direct weekly Easyjet flight from Gatwick into Ajaccio, worth gritting your teeth and flying low cost.

St Tropez
Get over the stereotype of St Tropez as a glitz and glam only destination. We love the vineyards, (some of which run down to the beach), the private, hidden-away houses and the on tap service. Creep a little further along the coast to La Croix Valmer and on to Hyeres and get a taste of what the Riviera was like fifty years ago; pretty beaches, clear, clear sea and small family resorts, or stay behind in the vine covered hillsides of La Mole and Cogolin and pop down the back road to St Trop for an aperitif at Le Senequier or lunch at Club 55.

Delicious outside of July and August, those in the know go out of season and enjoy it at it’s best. If you can grit your teeth and bear to fly low cost, book your flight to the pretty and quiet airport of Toulon/Hyeres only a 45 minute drive to St Tropez.
